Sights

Buda is where most of the city’s best and most famous sights can be found. Home to the famous hill, where you can take in the stunning Royal Palace, completed in the 13th century. The palace has been destroyed and rebuilt on many occasions, but today, the palace is now home to three museums. Other sites on the castle hill include Matthia Church, the Fisherman's Bastion and the Mary Magdalene Tower. As well as Castle Buda has its own sights such as the Elizabeth Lookout found on John’s Hill above the city, giving you a great view of the city. Take a walk through the famous Memento Park, only a 20 minute drive from the city center and the park is home is to countless statues. The Acuincum is a must, as it is a sort of open museum with artifacts and buildings from the old Roman city. There are some museums which are well worth a visit, such as the museums that can be found in the Royal Palace and the Medical History Museum.

Pest is found on the eastern side of the Danube and is the smaller of the two parts of the city. Despite being smaller it still has some great sights on offer. One of, if not the most impressive sight to see, is the Parliament building. This daunting and mightily impressive building was built in 1902 on the side of the Danube and it is roughly based on the houses of Parliament in London. Other sights include St. Stephan's Cathedral and the city park.
