FAQ Overview
How can I pay for my rental car?
Payment for your rental car is mainly made by credit card. It is possible to pay by debit card, however at the rental counter you will need a credit card issued to the main driver in order to secure the deposit for your rental car.
Who is allowed to drive the rental car and what are the conditions?
A rental car can be driven by the main driver, that is the person registered in the booking. Additional drivers may be added to the reservation at extra fee. Please note that the main driver must present a valid credit card issued in their name. Furthermore, the main and additional drivers must be in possession of a valid driving license for at least 1 year (for further information, please refer to the rental conditions). Moreover, both, the main and additional drivers are required to present a valid identity card/passport and must be of the minimum age specified in the rental conditions.
Do I have to pick up and return the car at any time? What happens if I am late for pick-up?
We recommend that you pick up the car at the agreed time as the availability of the car cannot be guaranteed in case of delay. As a general rule, local suppliers keep vehicles available up to 30 or 60 minutes after the agreed time. If a delay is inevitable, please contact the rental agency (you will find their contact details on the voucher).
What documents are required to pick up the vehicle?
When picking up the vehicle, the main driver must present the following documents: the printed voucher, their identity card or passport; their driver's license and their valid credit card.

Cheap Car Rental Germany

Germany is a country rich in history, culture, and diversity. From north to south, and east to west, the country at the heart of Europe has been at the forefront of cultural, political, economic, and social progress since its formation in 1871. The varied geography and cultural differences between German states leads to a wonderful divergence of atmosphere, depending where you go. In the south, the majestic snow-capped Alps loom in the background of small, idyllic towns. To the north discover the enchanting coastal region along the North and Baltic Seas, with its many inlets and fresh, salty air. HAPPYCAR is here to help you find the best car hire Germany has to offer so you can take full advantage of this vibrant country. We check the prices of international and local providers so that you don’t have to check each website, and provide you with the best deals on car rental in Germany to make your money go further on a rental car that fits your specific needs.

General Information

Germany is split into 16 different states varying in size, each of which have their own unique culture and in some cases own dialect. This deviation can be attributed to Germany’s long tribal history, with each tribe acting independently from others, and thus forming different dialects and customs. Southern Germany features stunning mountain ranges, powerful industry, and some of the most prestigious universities in the country. The automobile industry is especially well-known, with some of the most famous car brands having their origins here. Regional cuisine consists of stews, sausages, cabbage, noodles and other pasta dishes as well as a variety of cakes and tarts. Northern Germany is more well-known for its coast, seafood, fresh air, and coastal islands. This region is also more oriented towards business and shipping, dating back to the Hanseatic League, which had trade relations with Estonia, Russia, Latvia among others, to form a group of northern nations which controlled much of the trade of the region between the 13th and 17th centuries.

Take advantage of your car hire Germany

Southern Germany is well known for being the origin of stereotypical German culture including lederhosen, the Alps, and yodeling are specific to the state of Bavaria. The state is the largest and most popular for foreign tourists and Germans alike with the capital, Munich, is the stunning cultural center of the region. The Bavarian Alps run through the region, providing tourists with stunning vistas and opportunities for winter-sport. Neuschwanstein castle, located in southwest Bavaria on top a rugged hill, is a favorite attraction of the area. This medieval style castle attracts some 1.3 million people annually. A HAPPYCAR car rental Germany is a great way to see the state of Bavaria, explore its beautiful towns and cities as well as its breath-taking natural scenes.

If you wish to use your car hire in Germany to see more than one state or city and experience more of the country, Germany has some famous travel routes, such as the German wine route, taking you through some of Germany best vineyard regions in the Rhineland-Palatinate state. The Weser Renaissance route takes travelers on a 400 kilometer trip from medieval Hannoversch Münden to the Hanseatic city of Bremen. Along the way, you can admire elaborate decorative facades of town houses as well as other beautiful styles of the Renaissance era.

In Northern Germany, you should start off your tour in Kiel, where you can enjoy a nice stroll along the bustling beachfront promenade. From here, you can take your German car rental north along the coast and stop off along one of the many small towns to enjoy the fresh air and unobstructed views of the water and fields. If you keep going north you will eventually reach Denmark, where you can enjoy driving through idyllic towns, visiting important historical landmarks, or spending time in the beautiful city of Copenhagen. If you choose to take your German car hire south of Kiel, you should go to Hamburg, the largest port city in Germany and the second largest city in the country, which enjoys a vibrant multi-cultural atmosphere. The nightlife in Hamburg is great, with alternative areas like the Sternschanze, and the infamous Reeperbahn Street. To the east of Hamburg you will find the capital city of the country, Berlin. This vibrant metropolis features many impressive architectural wonders, like the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, and Charlottenburg Palace. Berlin is also a hot spot for immigration, lending the city an international feel and mixing of cultures.
