Background information

Originally founded as the third civil airport in the UK in the late 1920's, the airfield became a testing ground for experimental aircraft during the Second World War, and in 1955 was won by the city of Bristol, eventually developing into its modern incarnation that sends travelers to many parts of the world, with Spain proving particularly popular. By 2020, the airport will be expanded to facilitate the safe passage of 10 million travelers. Bristol Airport also houses the Bristol Flying Center and the Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane Club that operates alongside commercial passenger operations.

Bristol Airport features a number of facilities that travelers can take advantage of while staying in the airport. An executive lounge enables you to relax before a flight with drinks, snacks and comfortable seating, and there is a games zone on the 1st floor for children, complete with video games and children’s rides. There is also a wealth of things to do in Bristol itself, such as the City Museum and Art Gallery, set in a beautiful Edwardian Baroque building, or At Bristol, a modern exhibition space that brings science to life.
