Just six months later, it was recording over 1 million passengers and business would continue to grow. In the 70's the runway was extended for larger jets and an additional terminal was created. Together with another £55 million expansion in the late 80's, Glasgow Airport was able to accommodate 6 million passengers a year. As demand grows, Glasgow airport is now looking to extend its borders even more so as to eventually accommodate 16 million passengers annually.

The airport has a wide range of facilities for passengers to use, such as work space for business travelers, childcare facilities and children’s play areas. The recently developed Terminal 2 features one of the world’s most sophisticated baggage screening systems and a vast range of eateries and shopping options.
