About Amsterdam
The population of the city is about 800,000 people, the biggest in the Netherlands, its takes its name from the river the dam was built on, the Amster. The city started as a fishing village but grew to become one the most important ports in Europe during the Dutch golden age.

The Anne Frank House is where the young Anne Frank hid from the Nazis during the Second World War and wrote her famous diary. Within the house are the many secret rooms and doors which would have been used.
