Norfolk Botanical Garden

This is a 155-acre public botanical garden featuring well over 40 themed gardens, including a unique WOW Children’s Garden and seasonal gardens. Situated on the Azalea Garden Road, the themed gardens include an Enchanted Forest full of ancient oaks, hickory, and pine trees, a tranquil Japanese Garden set up in the traditional hill, a Hummingbird Garden featuring a mix of annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs that attract birds, and a Tropical Display House featuring lush foliage as well as bright flowers that are found in the tropical rain-forests around the world.

Battleship Wisconsin and the Nauticus Maritime Center

Situated conveniently on the waterfront in downtown Norfolk lies this decommissioned World War II Battleship operated by Nauticus. Despite the warship being impressive on most fronts, it’s one of the biggest battleships ever built by the US Navy. The battleship is an imposing presence on the waterfront. Inaugurated in 1943, this battleship was among the last battleships to be built by the US Navy. Wisconsin played center stage in World War II, the Operation Desert Storm in 1991, and the Korean War.

Those visiting are first taken through the Nauticus building featuring a comprehensive and well-thought out display of series related to the history as well as the ship’s layout before they’re taken out onto the deck.

MacArthur Memorial in honor of Douglas MacArthur

The MacArthur Memorial honors a US general and Chief of staff serving in the US Army, along with others who served in the Word War I and II, the Civil War, the Spanish War, the Korean War, and the Occupation of Japan.
